Back to Issue 3, 20245 ways to use infographics
The goal with most healthcare marketing messages is to get your consumers to act. Often an infographic—content that uses illustrations and only a few words—is a powerful way to deliver those messages. Whether you're looking to encourage healthy choices or to increase provider appointments, here are a few ideas for making use of infographics:
1. Simplifying complex topics
Use infographics to break complicated data into bite-sized pieces. During the pandemic, Coffey's clients used infographics we produced for them to help their consumers understand COVID-19 vaccines. Here's another idea: Do you want to show how your new heart procedure works? Use a stylized illustration of the heart along with text bubbles.
2. Showing steps
You might want to give step-by-step instructions on health topics, like how to perform exercises. Showing the steps involved in a healthcare journey is another area where an infographic can shine. For instance, you can show the steps involved in having joint-replacement surgery.
3. Engaging readers
Eye-catching visuals grab readers' attention, making them want to look at your story. Visuals also create spaces within large areas of text, making it easier for people to dive into your article and connect with your marketing messages. You can cover a lot of information in this way, without making your articles appear text-heavy.
4. Enhancing your service pages
Use infographics to educate your website's visitors. For example, a page that describes orthopedic care could include an infographic that shows treatment options for joint pain.
5. Making comparisons
You can use visuals that compare and highlight better choices. For example, you can use an infographic to suggest healthy food swaps. One Coffey client used a similar approach with a "good," "better" and "best" side-by-side layout for their story about healthy breakfast options. We loved that approach!
